CARE INSTRUCTIONS.

FORGE HUNT

THE

For the Deerstalker and Dagda knives.

WHAT DO I NEED?

  • A Forgehunt Deerstalker and/or Dagda in need of care

  • Water

  • A little bit of dish-soap (e.g. Dreft)

  • Camellia oil (or a substitute)

  • Knife strop

  • Polishing paste

  • A cloth

You can find the strop, polishing paste, camellia oil, and a special cloth in a very useful combination package in our webshop!

STEP 1

Use water and a small amount of dish soap to remove all organic material. Clean both the blade and the handle. Let everything dry thoroughly.

STEP 2

The handle is usually made of wood. Use a bit of camellia oil to nourish the handle and allow it to absorb well. Use the cloth to wipe down any excess oil.

STEP 3

Apply polishing paste to the strop; this can be a generous layer. Apply the compound/paste to the rough side of the strop.

STEP 4

Run the knife along the strop with the cutting edge in a figure-eight (ā™¾ļø) motion, applying firm pressure while keeping the same angle to the strop. Each time you finish one side, flip the knife over to return along the other side of the blade. Each cutting edge should pass over the strop 8 times.
Tip: Place the bottom of the strop on a table to apply better pressure.

STEP 5

Turn the strop so the untreated side is visible. Using the same motion as before, polish off any remaining stropping compound residue.

STEP 6

At your own risk: test how razor-sharp you’ve stropped your Forgehunt knife!
